Kantara Ku — named for its ability to bridge the transition from urban hustle and bustle to rain forest relaxation — this jungle retreat sits along what many consider the most scenic highway in all of Central America. It’s an off the grid spot that repeat travelers don’t mind keeping under wraps. Kantara Ku is mellow and mostly open-air, the kind of place where toucan dangle from papaya trees, a hummingbird can reach speeds up to 60 miles per hour during courtship dives , white-tipped doves are commonly spotted feasting in the shade of a mango tree…..imagine the tropical rain forest as a backdrop to all this. Kantara Ku delivers jungle accommodations high in the Mayan Mountains without sacrificing creature comforts. The property is surrounded by a tropical rain forest—and rooms are decorated with an indigenous flair using design features by local artist. Kantar Ku is an inland refuge near caves, ruins, rivers and waterfalls. Our outdoor pool is surrounded by lush gardens, fountains, birdbaths and stunning views. Accommodations on this 10 acre property include; a two bedroom jungle cottage, a one bedroom villa condo and a two bedroom villa condo, & four traditional Maya jungle cabanas. From almost every spot on the property you can hear the sounds of exotic birds and a number of rain forest inhabitants– you’re only a 90-second walk from the dense tropical jungle. Before a day of exploring, fuel up on fluffy banana pancakes topped with whipped mango butter. The indoor/outdoor space has several relaxing choices–The Mountain View Palapa, or you can stretch out in a lounge chair around the pristine pool.
