Actun Tunichil Muknal (Cave of the Crystal Sepulchre), also known locally as “Xibalba”, was named after the sacrificial chamber within the cave where the remains of a young woman were found. It is one of Belize’s most impressive Maya sites. You’ll find evidence of ceramics, stoneware and skeletons. One artifact named the “Monkey Pot” is one of just four found in Central America.
