Belize City, Belize – May 10, 2012 – This Saturday, the general public is in for a treat as the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) hosts its first ever, “Village Arts and Craft Expo”. Local entrepreneurs and artists will inspire you with their unique creations; and for those who appreciate one-of-a-kind artifacts, your attendance is a must. The Expo will take place at the Princess Hotel & Casino from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
“Small village entrepreneurs suffer from brand recognition and are always in direct competition with inexpensive neighboring imports in terms of arts, crafts and packaged goods,” said Clive Myers, Destination Planning & Development Coordinator at the BTB. “The Village Expo will provide them with the opportunity to market their product while gaining recognition by the Belizean public and other visitors,” concluded Myers.
The Village Arts & Craft Expo is a collaborative project between BELTRAIDE, the National Association of Village Councils (NAVCO) and the BTB. Featured artisanship includes crafts made of recyclable materials, agro products, fashion jewelry, clothing, visual paintings and sculptures among others. Product samples will be available for sale. Entertainment at the “Village Arts and Crafts Expo” includes live cultural performances. Entrance is free and doors will be open to the general public.
