Sarteneja is one of the gems of northern Belize. Just 30 minutes by boat from Corozal Town or 1.5 hours by road across two hand-powered ferries, this quiet village provides a panoramic view of emerald-colored Chetumal Bay.
Fishing boats bob at anchor in the picturesque bay while the beach is lined by colorful sailboats being repaired and painted for the next trip south. Sailboats with crews of 5-10 men venture south for weeks harvesting fish, conch and lobster.
