Carnival3Gial

At the break of day the Carnival Bands strikes-up, adorning themselves in paint and colorful-cascading costumes, this marks the start of the Carnival Day! Begining with the Carnival Jouvert and followed by the grand Carnival Parade in the  mid-afternoon-masqueraders and Carnival bands showcase their extravagant costumes while performing choreographed routines through the streets of Belize.

Carnival Day is a patriotic and symbolic unity of Belize’s diverse population. Formed by Belizeans of the “Committee of Forty” back in 1975, Carnival remains one of the largest events throughout Belize as the participation of businesses and travelers have facilitated its continued growth into a must see event.

Belizeans and tourists, anticipate the Carnival Day experience as it provides an escape from the routine and a great opportunity to reunite with family and friends.  At the onset of the Carnival Jouvert, thousands of participants paint each other with chocolate and other edible and colorful foods as music boxes are on full blast sounding the start of Carnival Day.

Families then line the principal streets of Belize to cheer-on their favorite band as the Carnival Parade gives the streets of Belize a temporary makeover of bright colors and eccentric costume creations. The party continues as the crowd journeys to the Belize Telemedia Limited Park for the After Party celebrations!

Let us parade through the streets with our flags waved high-celebrate the culture, celebrate the legacy, celebrate, BELIZE!
