The Placencia Peninsula “End of the World” Marathon-An intimate experience

Ready, set, go!  It’s time to tighten those tennis-laces, the inaugural Placencia “End of the World” Marathon and Half Marathon is December 9th, and whether challenging the 26.2 mile full marathon or the 13.1 mile half marathon, you are guaranteed a great experience!

As a top destination, for both locals and visitors alike, the Placencia Peninsula provides marathon runners with an encouraging ambiance and an even more intimate view of this Southern region.

History: 

Organized by Maya Beach resident, Chip Lovett, the Placencia Marathon is intended to draw both international runners and runners from across Belize.  In addition to developing a more intimate appreciation for the beauty of the Placencia Peninsula, the event also advocates for healthy living and fundraising for community needs.

Marathon and Half Marathon:

 Starting on December 8th, participants can register and attend the Pasta Dinner at Robert’s Grove from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by the Marathon and Half Marathon run on December 9th. Participation fees are as follows: Marathon ($100USD for international runners/$100BZE for local runners) and Half Marathon is
($80USD for international runners/80BZE for local runners).

The full marathon starts, 5:15 a.m., at the Football Field, and progresses through the Placencia Village, Seine Bight Village and Maya Beach and back to the Placencia Village.  At the half-point (return) of the full marathon, the (13.1 mile) half marathon takes-off.  The day concludes with a post-race party following the award ceremony at 11:30 a.m.

With an array of amazing prizes, trophies, and cash awards, participants will have yet another reason to return each year to this event.  Residents and visitors, come out and enjoy the best of the Peninsula as your experiences will be one worth reliving, annually.
