4. What is required to obtain a marriage license?
A Belize marriage license is required from the Registrar General’s office in Belize City or Solicitor General’s office in Belmopan City. You may download a marriage license form on the Belize Law website. With a three-day stay in the country, there is a U.S. $100 charge for a marriage license. Or, marriage licenses are available within 24 hours for a fee of U.S. $250, plus an administrative fee of U.S. $5.
Proof of citizenship is required by the government of Belize in the form of a valid passport and certified copies of the couple’s birth certificates. If either party has been divorced, a certified copy or an original divorce decree is required. If either party is a widow or widower, a certified copy of the death decree is required.
