From birds to big cats, it’s all at Mountain Pine Ridge.
Located in the high country, the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve provides cooler temperatures and an amazing view of the land. The best way to explore the area is by mountain bike, foot or hoof (horses are available for rent). Trek through the pines to see lilac-colored mimosa, Saint John’s wort and a deep red flower appropriately named hot lips. Pine Ridge is a great trip for birders and is also the home of tapirs, cougars, jaguars and ocelots, though you may not want to see the jaguars or cougars. There’s over 100,000 acres to discover at Pine Ridge, so get out and see it soon.
