One Full Weekend To Celebrate “Seine Bight Day”

Belize City, Belize – August 10th 2012 – The village of Seine Bight is enthusiastically requesting your presence at their annual Seine Bight Day. Everyone is invited to this grand celebration that will take place from Friday, August 17th to Sunday, August 19th, 2012 in Seine Bight Village, Stann Creek District as they celebrate one of Belize’s renowned cultures – the Garifuna.

“Seine Bight Day was first celebrated in 1990, then called ‘Village Life’.  Every year, the funds raised from the celebrations are used for a project that will benefit the village. This year, we want to use the funds to build a basketball court,” stated Francisco Palacio, Chairman of Seine Bight.  He further articulated that, “I’d like to invite everyone to come enjoy the fun games, contests, music and entertainment we have scheduled for at the Seine Bight Day weekend  and at the same time enjoy all that Seine Bight has to offer.”

At 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17th, the “Seine Bight Day” weekend will get the ball rolling with its opening ceremonies at the village’s reservoir, which will be followed by a Jankunu contest for kids, a battle of the drums for junior and senior drummers and a dynamite block party.  The following day’s action kicks off from 7:00 a.m. at the beach in front of the Roman Catholic Church with plenty of contests for everyone’s enjoyment, such as a Coconut husking contest, Hudut and hotdog eating contest, and a Punta dancing contest among many others.  The crowd will be entertained by some of Stann Creek’s renowned DJ’s like Selecta Bantan and Dj Gilly who will delight everyone’s ears. Everyone is invited to party all night long with a concert in which Superstar artists like Reckless, Taprick, Titiman, and Mohobub will be participating.

On Sunday, August 19th, the party continues at the beach with even more fun competitions.  These will include a dory challenge, beach volley ball competition and live entertainment by the famous New Rebels Band all day long.

Come and engulf yourself in the culture, the music and the endless fun that the “Seine Bight Day” weekend offers!
