Getting Around
Local airlines, rental cars, tour operators and buses make getting around Belize a breeze.
Belize is a small country with a well-planned highway and road system connecting all mainland towns, villages and attractions. There are small airports scattered around the country, bus terminals in all towns and boat services operating from all major coastal and island towns.
Travel via local airlines in 4-14 passenger aircraft are the fastest and most popular means of transportation throughout Belize, especially for itineraries that combine different in-country locations. Flight schedules are coordinated with the arrival and departure of international flights and local airlines offer seasonal day tours to attractions in Honduras and Guatemala.
Belize City and the international airport are bases for most rental vehicles with localized services available in the larger tourism destinations.
Boats are the primary means of transportation between the islands and the mainland and of course, to barrier reef attractions. Regularly scheduled water taxis operate between Belize City, Caye Caulker and San Pedro.
