Belize graces Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2022 Magazine Cover featuring Maye Musk
Belize’s diverse, pristine landscape, friendliness, and kaleidoscopic cultures have long been a favorite of travelers. It also served as the perfect destination for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2022 Magazine shoot! The 59th issue of the magazine was shot at four different destinations including Belize, resulting in four diverse covers. Gracing the Belize cover is Maye Musk —supermodel, bestselling international author, and mother of billionaire Elon Musk.
With dancing coconut palms in the background, Musk poses on the golden beaches of Naia Resort and Spa in Placencia Village for her cover photo. Located on Belize’s Southeast Coast, Placencia Village is a favorite of travelers looking for a colorful, charming coastal escape within a short distance of secluded islands and jungle adventures. The Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge nestled in the foothills of the Maya Mountains off the Hummingbird Highway also served as the backdrop for several shoots.
The 2022 issue, “celebrates 28 powerful women in an inclusive range of backgrounds and body types” and also features models Jasmine Sanders, Hunter McGrady, Kate Bock, Natalie Mariduena, and Leyna Bloom photographed in Belize by world-famous photographer, Yu Tsai. From stunning waterfalls and beaches to Maya archaeological sites, to Garifuna cooking, to a thrilling ziplining adventure, and of course, reef and sharks! The models got to see and experience some of Belize’s best destinations and things to do.
