Maya Wedding Re-enactment

The centerpiece is the re-enactment of Zazil Ha and Gonzalo Guerrero’s wedding in 1519, accompanied by lively performances that showcase Belize’s cultural evolution from the ancient Maya civilization to the arrival of the Spanish. Attendees get a rare opportunity to see the Pok-Ta-Pok, the traditional Maya ballgame, and enjoy presentations such as the Belize national anthem sung in Yucatec Maya.

Beyond its cultural significance, the event fosters community engagement and economic growth in Corozal, promoting tourism and highlighting Santa Rita as a unique wedding venue.
