🛕 Xunantunich is one of Belize’s most impressive Maya sites, rich in history, architecture, and natural beauty.
📍 Located just outside San Ignacio, this ancient ceremonial center is accessed by a hand-cranked ferry across the Mopan River.
🏛️ Its main structure, El Castillo, stands approximately 130 feet tall and is one of the tallest Maya structures in the country.
🌄 At the top, you`ll be rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding jungle and nearby villages.
🦎 Along the trail, you might spot green iguanas or hear tropical birds, making this journey both cultural and immersive.
🔍 The name “Xunantunich” means Stone Maiden, a nod to local legends of a mysterious figure believed to appear near the site.
