WORKING IN BELIZE WON’T BREAK THE BANK

Compared to other destinations offering similar programs, the cost of doing business from Belize is relatively low. You’ll find our accommodations, dining and general cost of living affordable, and the cost of applying to and enrolling in the Work Where You Vacation program is just $500 BZD per adult and $200 BZD per child under 18 years of age.

We are not surprised. The chance to live and work in Belize is hard to pass up. Luckily, the process is simple. To begin:

• Await your approval

• Travel to Belize with your travel documents

• Pay the Work Where You Vacation fee at the airport

• Spend a maximum of 180 days experiencing Belize

WAIT, AM I ELIGIBLE?

The short answer-probably. Our requirements are fairly easy to achieve, as we would like to extend a warm welcome to as many people as possible. To be eligible for the Work Where You Vacation program, you must:

• Show proof of employment outside of Belize (min annual income of USD $75,000 for individuals, USD $100,000 for couples/families)

• Share a notarized banking reference and statement of account

• Supply a clear criminal record (no more than 6 months old)

• Possess a valid passport

• Carry a travel insurance policy (min. US $50,000 coverage)

PLAN YOUR VISIT

*Visitors to Belize are now required to purchase Belize Travel Insurance.

You are required to complete the Customs and Immigration form that is provided to you on your flight to Belize.

International Tourist*: must book a stay at a BTB approved hotel.

*QRPs, Belizeans & permanent residents, foreign homeowners, long-stay non-nationals, military personnel, Peace Corps, airline crew and persons in Belize for less than 24 hours are exempted.

ARRIVAL

Effective March 1, 2022, fully vaccinated travellers no longer require a negative test but must show proof of vaccination for entry into Belize’s airport, land borders or sea ports.

*If not fully vaccinated and unable to show proof of vaccination, children ages 5 and older will be subjected to SARCoV2 testing for entry into Belize.

Airport

If unable to show proof or if unvaccinated, the traveller must present proof of a negative PCR result taken within 72 hours of arrival or a negative Antigen Rapid test taken within 48 hours of arrival. A test can be administered by the Ministry responsible for health at the airport.

*COVID-19 test will be administered at the airport for a fee of USD $50 per passenger.

Land Borders & Sea Port

*Mandatory testing will be administered by the Ministry responsible for health at land border points and sea ports for unvaccinated travellers. No test result taken prior to arrival will be accepted at the land borders or sea ports.
