“Dia de San Pedro” Celebrations

Usually celebrated in June, the Día de San Pedro festival journeys back in time to the humble beginnings of Belize’s award-winning island, San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

Event Insight

Witness a respectful tribute to St. Peter (San Pedro), the island’s most revered saint and the patron of the fishing community. This celebration honors the founding fathers of the popular island.

Take part in this cultural 10-day festival, during which St. Peter’s statue is ceremoniously removed from the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church and placed on the lower altar. Over the course of ten days, the statue is gradually elevated, day by day, until it reaches the top altar on the final day of the celebration.

Be sure to join the daily beach activities held in front of the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church and celebrate alongside the San Pedranos.
