Another Beautiful Day in San Antonio

Another Beautiful Day in San Antonio (ABDISA) is an annual event held in San Antonio, Cayo. Here, the culture and resilience of this Yucatec Maya community come to life. Launched in 2019, ABDISA is a fun-filled celebration that offers an immersive journey into San Antonio’s heritage.

The excitement begins with the Elijio Panti Cycling Race, which winds through the hills of Cristo Rey, Santa Elena, Georgeville, and the entrance to Blancaneaux. Visitors can explore a variety of booths highlighting education, archaeology, and Maya-owned and local businesses, featuring everything from traditional foods to locally made products, paintings, and pottery.

The event also offers hands-on experiences and lively competitions such as corn shelling, corn grinding, the greasy pig, greasy pole, and palm-leaf braiding. Cultural presentations include marimba music, Pok Ta’ Pok, the Hog Head Dance, and performances by other traditional dance groups.
