Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic
The Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic is an annual tradition that attracts cyclists from across Belize and the region. With a history spanning more than 90 years, it is the longest one-day cycling event in the Western Hemisphere.
Starting in Belize City at Digi Park with a lead-out to Mile 3 on the George Price Highway, cyclists tackle the grueling 144-mile journey to and from San Ignacio Town, racing for a chance to be crowned champion. The event draws spectators from nearby villages, visiting supporters, and online viewers, all energized as they cheer for their favorite teams and predict the next cross-country cycling champion.
Route
Start: BTL Park (Marine Parade Blvd) at 6:00 a.m., heading west toward San Ignacio Town, Cayo District
Halfway Point: Hawkesworth Bridge, San Ignacio Town, before riders return to Belize City
Finish Line: BTL Park (Marine Parade Blvd), Belize City
