Banana Bank throughout history has been a place of incessant activity since the 1800's. Nestled along the Belize River it was a popular village for loggers and home to the headquarters for Belize Estates. There was always commercial hustle and bustle as well as horse racing, cattle runs and many other activities. For a long time it was the gateway to the western part of the country via the Belize River. Today the property extends over 4000 acres and is home to over 90 horses, 150 head of cattle, 100 acres of teak trees, farmland and pristine jungle which all sets the stage for the best horseback riding experience in Belize. The Carr family, who moved to Belize in the late 70's, have over the years developed a beautiful jungle lodge that not only offers a relaxing natural environment for travelers, but, being located in the heart of the country, it is very close to many other adventures such as cave-tubing, zip-lining, Mayan temples, etc. Visit John Carr's collection of historic artifacts, many found right here at Banana Bank. You will also be able to see Carolyn's Carr's Art Gallery where you will walk through the past 40 years through her eyes portrayed on canvas. Banana Bank has a solid team of staff who will make your stay memorable with their local charm, great food and service. We serve our meals family style which provides great table conversation with the Carr's and other guests. Share your adventures and hear each others stories about the day! From May 1st to November 30th dinner is included in our rates for cabanas, standard rooms and suites. The beautiful pool, amazing star-gazing thru the 16' computerized telescope, on site birding and nature trails, resident jaguar Tikatoo, and many exotic birds are just a few of the amenities you will find at Banana Bank that will make your stay unique and different from anywhere else not only in Belize, but in the world.
